Hi, I’m Debbie Gioquindo — though most people in the wine world know me as the Hudson Valley Wine Goddess.

My journey into wine began in the 1990s, but what truly sparked my passion was living in the oldest wine region in the country — the Hudson Valley — and realizing that so few people knew its story. That curiosity turned into exploration. Exploration turned into writing. And writing turned into a mission: to make wine fun, approachable, and never intimidating.

My Wine Credentials

I believe education should empower, not overwhelm. That’s why I’ve dedicated years to deepening my knowledge and earning respected certifications, including:

  • Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW)

  • Wine Location Specialist in Port

  • Wine Location Specialist in Champagne

  • Certified Sherry Wine Specialist

  • Certified Cava Educator

But here’s the thing — certifications are important. Connection is essential.

My goal isn’t to talk over you. It’s to walk beside you.

Whether I’m interviewing a winemaker, leading a private tasting, moderating a seminar, or sharing a glass with friends, I believe every bottle has a story worth telling.

Why “Wine Goddess”?

It started playfully — a little tongue-in-cheek, a little confidence, and a whole lot of love for the region I call home. But it grew into something bigger: a brand rooted in celebrating wine, community, and the people behind the labels.

The Hudson Valley is historic. It’s dynamic. It’s evolving. And it deserves to be recognized.

I’ve made it my mission to shine a light on the wineries, winemakers, and stories that make this region extraordinary — while also exploring wines from around the world.
