When I got my hands on this release of Benmarl Winery’s 2010 Chardonnay the first thing I noticed is the label. A HUGE improvement from last years. It’s nice, it’s classy, I like it.
Now onto the wine. This Chardonnay is 50% barrel fermented, 50% fermented in steel and sat on the lees for 10 months with no stirring.
Aromas of tropical fruit and melon filled the glass with an underlying hint of vanilla. The palate was nicely balanced with pear, melon and lime and a bit of acidity. The finish had some slight bitter notes.
The wine retails at the winery for $19.99 and $17.00 if your a wine club member.
*Disclaimer – I received this wine as a sample from the winery.
