Going back over my notes, I found a tasting review of the Mayo Family Winery’s 2008 Russian River Valley, Ricci Vineyards Zinfandel. We visited this winery back in 2010 when we were out in the Bay area for a wedding and opened our bottle of Zin back in February.
When we entered their tasting room it was the end of the day and we were most likely their last tasting customer. With small talk, it turns out the gentleman (I can’t remember his name) working with us actually went to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY and worked for a little while at Millbrook Winery. Yes, it is a small world.
Now onto the Zin…Jammy aromas of red currants, red raspberries vanilla land a hint of spice fill your glass. As the wine enters your palate, you have some serious jammy fruit, red cherry and raspberry with a little tannins and spice.
This wine will pair great with your summer BBQ foods.
