Now that I the Finger Lakes are releasing their 2011 Riesling’s I found this review in my notes that I had not put up yet.  If Damiani still has their 2010 in stock, I would suggest doing a vertical tasting with the 2011 release.  Compare and contrast.

For now I’ll give you my thoughts on the 2010 dry Riesling.  First a little about the winery.

Damiani is located on the eastern shores of Seneca Lake. I had the opportunity of visiting their vineyards a few years back when I was there for “TasteCamp” and have since visited the tasting room.

Onto the wine.  The 2010 Dry Riesling has some great aromas coming from the glass.  Aromas of melon, citrus, orange peel and lime.  Nice aromatics!  As it enters your palate the acidity dances in your mouth.  Slight hints of honeydew melon with grapefruit rind lingering on the finish.  As the wine warms up the flavors of apricot, melon and lime become more identifiable.

It was very enjoyable and I look forward to the 2011.
