This is another one of my tasting notes that I should have posted months ago. I paired a 2009 Whitecliff Vineayrds Riesling with Chicken Gumbo. Unfortunately, I didn’t note the recipe I used, so you can create your own gumbo to pair with.
This 2009 Riesling is aging quite nicely. Aromas of soft mineral and some hints of smooth petrol with apricot hanging in the back.
The palate had soft acidity with stone fruit and a hint of spice on the end. There were some lingering soft petrol flavors on the finish as well.
There is a little bit of residual sugar in the Riesling that made it pair very well with the chicken gumo.
